Understanding Overage

What is Overage?

Overage lets you exceed your plan limits without service interruption. Instead of your chatbot going offline, it continues serving customers and you pay for the extra usage.

How It Works

1. Usage approaches limit - System monitors your usage
2. Limit exceeded - Service continues without interruption
3. Charges applied - Extra usage is billed at overage rates
4. Credit system - Charges deducted from your overage credit balance

If you prefer hard limits, you can disable overage - your chatbot will pause when limits are reached until the next billing cycle.

Frequently Asked Questions

What counts as a query?

A query is a chat message that triggers an AI response. Simple follow-ups and clarifications each count as separate queries.

What are vector chunks?

Vector chunks are segments of your uploaded content (documents, web pages) that are stored for AI search. Larger documents create more chunks.

Can I change plans anytime?

Yes, upgrade anytime with immediate effect. Downgrades take effect at your next billing cycle.

What happens if I exceed limits on Free?

Your chatbot will pause until the next month or until you upgrade. No overage is available on Free.

Is there a contract?

No long-term contracts. Monthly plans can be cancelled anytime. Annual plans receive a prorated refund for unused months if cancelled early. Unused overage credit is always refunded.

Do unused queries roll over?

No, query limits reset each billing cycle. Unused queries don't carry forward.

How is overage for chunks and products calculated?

Overage for chunks and products is calculated on a daily basis. If you exceed your plan limits, you're charged proportionally for each day you're over, based on the actual number of days in that month. For example, if you have 1,000 extra chunks for the entire month of January (31 days), you pay the full monthly rate of $69 on Professional. If you only have them for 15 days, you pay approximately half.

How is query overage calculated?

Query overage is charged per query. The rate shown (e.g., $9 per 100 queries on Professional) breaks down to $0.09 per extra query. If you use 50 extra queries, you pay $4.50. You only pay for exactly what you use.

When are overage charges deducted?

Overage charges are deducted from your prepaid overage credit balance throughout your billing cycle. For chunks and products, daily charges are applied each day you exceed limits. For queries, charges are applied as each extra query is made. Make sure to maintain sufficient credit to avoid service interruption.
