Shopify Billing

If you installed Xinfer.AI from the Shopify App Store, billing is handled through Shopify's billing system rather than directly through our platform. This page explains how billing works for Shopify store integrations.

How Shopify Billing Works

When you subscribe to a paid plan, Shopify manages the entire billing process:

  1. Subscription charges appear on your Shopify invoice
  2. Payment methods are managed through your Shopify account
  3. Billing cycles follow Shopify's 30-day billing period
  4. Proration for plan changes is handled automatically by Shopify

This integration ensures a seamless experience - all your app charges are consolidated in one place with your other Shopify bills.

Key Differences from Direct Billing

Monthly Billing Only

Shopify tenants are billed monthly only. Annual billing is not available because:

  • Shopify's billing API uses 30-day cycles
  • Usage-based overage charges require monthly reconciliation
  • This ensures accurate billing for variable usage

Hidden Admin Sections

Since Shopify handles billing and payments, certain admin sections are not shown for Shopify stores:

SectionWhy Hidden
Payment MethodsShopify manages payment information
Billing TransactionsTransaction history is in Shopify admin
Billing StatementsStatements are on your Shopify invoice
Account InfoContact info is managed via Shopify
Media LibraryProduct images sync from Shopify
Admin RolesUser management through Shopify staff accounts

Product Sync

For Shopify stores, products are automatically synced from your Shopify catalog rather than manually uploaded. This keeps your AI assistant's knowledge base in sync with your actual inventory.

  1. Go to Admin > Billing Usage
  2. Click Upgrade Plan or Upgrade to Premium
  3. You'll be redirected to Shopify to approve the new subscription
  4. Shopify handles proration credits automatically
  5. After approval, you're redirected back with the new plan active

Downgrading Your Plan

  1. Go to Admin > Billing Usage
  2. Click Change Plan
  3. Select a lower tier plan

  4. Your current subscription is cancelled immediately
  5. You retain access to Free plan features

Alternatively, you can uninstall the app from Shopify Admin to cancel completely.

Overage Billing

Overage works the same as direct billing:

  • Enable overage in Billing Usage to allow exceeding plan limits
  • Overage charges are calculated based on your usage
  • Charges appear on your Shopify invoice

The key difference is that overage charges are billed through Shopify rather than charged to a credit card on file.

Overage Rates

Overage rates are the same as listed on the Pricing page:

Frequently Asked Questions

Why can't I see Payment Methods?

Shopify manages all payment information. You don't need to add a separate payment method - charges go through your Shopify account.

Why is annual billing not available?

Shopify's billing API uses 30-day cycles, and usage-based overage billing requires monthly reconciliation. Monthly billing ensures accurate charges for your actual usage.

How do I get a refund?

Contact Shopify support for billing disputes and refunds. Since charges go through Shopify, they handle all refund requests.

Can I switch to direct billing?

No, apps installed from the Shopify App Store must use Shopify's billing system. This is a Shopify requirement, not a limitation of our platform.

Where are my invoices?

All invoices are in your Shopify Admin under Settings > Billing. We don't generate separate invoices for Shopify stores.

What happens if I uninstall the app?

Uninstalling the app cancels your subscription. You'll receive a prorated refund for any unused time on your current billing period (handled by Shopify).

  2. Contact Shopify support for charge-related issues
