Payment Methods

The Payment Methods page lets you manage credit and debit cards for billing. Access it from Admin > Payment Methods in your admin panel.

Shopify Users: This section is not available for Shopify store integrations. Shopify handles all payment processing through your Shopify account. See Shopify Billing for details.

Why You Need a Payment Method

For Paid Plans

When you upgrade from Free to Professional or Premium:

  • A payment method is required to complete the upgrade
  • Your default card is charged immediately

For Overage

To enable overage charges:

  1. You must have at least one payment method
  2. The "Allow Overage" toggle in Billing Usage requires a card on file
  3. Overage top-ups charge your default card

For Renewals

Subscription renewals are automatic:

  • Monthly plans charge on the same day each month
  • Annual plans charge on the anniversary date
  • The default payment method is used

Security

Card Data Handling

  • Card numbers are tokenized and stored securely by the payment processor
  • Only the last 4 digits are displayed in the admin panel
  • CVV is never stored after initial validation
  • All transactions use secure encryption

Payments are processed through Authorize.net:

  • PCI DSS compliant
  • Industry-standard security
  • Fraud detection and prevention

Troubleshooting

Card Declined

Common reasons:

  • Insufficient funds
  • Incorrect card details
  • Card expired
  • Bank blocked the transaction

Solutions:

  • Verify card details are correct
  • Check with your bank for blocks
  • Try a different card

Cannot Remove Card

  • You must have at least one payment method for active paid subscriptions
  • Add a new card first, then remove the old one
  • Or downgrade to Free plan first

Card Not Appearing After Add

  • Refresh the page
  • Check for error messages
  • Verify the card was successfully validated
  • Try adding the card again

Expiration Warning

If your card is about to expire:

  1. Add a new card with updated expiration
  2. Set the new card as default
  3. Remove the old card (optional)

Best Practices

  1. Keep cards updated - Replace cards before they expire to avoid failed renewals
  2. Use a dedicated card - Consider using a business card for easier expense tracking
  3. Monitor billing - Check statements regularly for unexpected charges
  4. Set the right default - Ensure your preferred card is set as default
