Config Agent

Config Agent controls how your AI agent looks and what it can do. Find it in the admin sidebar under Config Agent.

Changes save as you make them and take effect for new visitors immediately. No redeploy, no re-embedding.

Installing the widget on your site is a separate page — see Chat Widget.

Subdomain

Your subdomain is the address customers use to reach the full-page agent: https://[subdomain].xinfer.ai.

One is generated for you at signup. To change it, click Edit, type a new one, and click Save.

  • 5–30 characters
  • Lowercase letters and numbers only
  • Must start with a letter

Capital letters are lowercased when you save. If the name is already in use you see "This subdomain is already taken"; pick another. Cancel keeps the current one.

Renaming is safe: the embed snippet identifies your account by an internal ID rather than by subdomain, so a widget already installed on your site keeps working. Anywhere you've shared the old [subdomain].xinfer.ai link — QR codes, printed labels, email signatures — needs updating.

Shopify stores don't have this setting — your store domain identifies you.

Allowed Domains

Which sites may embed your widget. Comma-separated, no protocol:

example.com, shop.example.com

*.example.com covers example.com and all of its subdomains. Use * to allow any domain. * is the default, which is convenient while you're testing and worth narrowing before launch — it's what stops another site from embedding your agent and spending your query quota.

It saves when you click out of the box (you see "Allowed domains saved"). Emptying the box goes back to *.

Widget Position

Which corner the widget button sits in: Bottom Right (default) or Bottom Left.

Pick the corner that doesn't collide with the rest of your interface — cookie banners, back-to-top buttons, and live-chat launchers all tend to claim the bottom right.

Shopify stores set position in the theme editor instead.

Widget Color

The widget's accent color — the launcher button, the header, and the send button. Default is #6366f1.

Enter a hex value or use the color picker. Use your brand's primary color, and check it against the widget's white text.

Shopify stores set color in the theme editor instead.

XInfer Agent

Your agent also has a full-page version at your subdomain, with no embedding required. This section shows:

  • The link — share it directly, or use it when you have no site to embed on
  • A QR code — for print, packaging, table tents, or shop signage
  • Print Labels — opens a page for printing label sheets (Avery templates): QR labels that open your agent, or numbered table labels

The full-page version has the same knowledge and the same voice as the widget. See Chat Clients for how the two differ.

The logo appears in the chat header; the favicon appears in the browser tab of the full-page agent.

  • 192×192 px, under 1 MB
  • SVG is accepted with no size limits

Square images work best — non-square uploads get letterboxed in the header.

Widget Hero Image

The large image at the top of the full-page agent, above the greeting.

  • 1536×1024 px, under 16 MB

This is the first thing a visitor sees on the full-page agent, so use a storefront photo or a product shot rather than a logo on a background.

AudioSpotlight

AudioSpotlight adds short, podcast-style audio players to chat replies and product cards. Two independent settings:

SettingEffect
Enable AudioSpotlightOff means no players appear anywhere
Hide player when quota is exhaustedOn hides the player once your plan quota is reached; off shows an "unavailable" message instead

The second setting only applies while the first is on. Hiding is the quieter failure — a customer never sees a control that can't do anything. Showing the message makes it obvious to you that you've hit the limit.

Plan quotas and what counts against them are covered in Pricing.

Pronunciation

Teach your voice agent to say words it gets wrong: your brand, product names, a street. Click + Add word, enter the Word as it is written and Say it as spelled the way it sounds, then click Save. Remove takes a word off the list (then Save).

WordSay it as
Acaíah-sah-EE
Nguyenwin
  • Used in voice chat on your site and on phone calls, about 2 minutes after you save. Text replies, and anything the agent writes (searches, text messages), keep the normal spelling.
  • Matches whole words and ignores capital letters. When two entries overlap, the longer one wins.
  • Up to 30 words; a word up to 50 characters, its sound up to 100.
  • XInfer.AI and XInfer are built in for every agent. Add the same word to say it differently.

Test by talking to your agent. If a word still comes out wrong, try another spelling: hyphens between syllables and a capitalized stressed syllable help (ah-sah-EE), and letters spelled out are read one by one (A-I).

Live Avatar

Live Avatar puts a talking, lip-synced video presenter on voice conversations. Turn on Show the live avatar in voice chat to enable it.

With it off, voice chat still works — it just runs audio-only. Text replies are unaffected either way.

Two things gate the avatar beyond this toggle:

  • Your plan must include avatar minutes. If it grants zero, the admin warns you that the avatar won't start until you upgrade. The toggle still saves; it just has nothing to spend.
  • The connection must support it. On poor mobile connections the agent falls back to audio-only rather than stalling the conversation.

Start with full-size video

Decides how the avatar first appears when a voice conversation starts, in your web chat, chat widget and the XInfer Agent app:

  • Checked: the avatar opens large over the chat for the greeting, then shrinks to a thumbnail in the bottom-left corner
  • Unchecked (the default): the avatar starts as the bottom-left thumbnail, so the conversation stays visible

It can be changed only while Show the live avatar in voice chat is checked, saves as soon as you click it, and applies from the next voice conversation. Every agent starts with it unchecked, including agents that opened full-size before this setting existed. Even when it is checked, the avatar shrinks early when a product or cart card appears, so the card isn't covered.

Dim while the customer speaks

Fades the avatar's bottom-left thumbnail whenever the agent isn't talking, in your web chat and chat widget:

  • Checked: the thumbnail drops to about half brightness while the customer speaks, in pauses, and for the moment before the greeting starts, and comes back as soon as the agent talks
  • Unchecked (the default): the thumbnail stays at full brightness

The full-size opening video is never dimmed, and the XInfer Agent app doesn't dim the avatar either way. Like the checkbox above, it can be changed only while Show the live avatar in voice chat is checked, saves as soon as you click it, and applies from the next voice conversation. Every agent starts with it unchecked, including agents whose thumbnail dimmed before this checkbox was added here.

The avatar follows your agent's gender

The live avatar always matches your agent's gender, Female or Male, so the face agrees with the voice.

  • Set the gender in the Setup Wizard (Personality step). In the web admin you can also change it later on Advanced Admin > Agent Voice
  • An avatar of the other gender can't be chosen. The avatar follows the gender automatically, with nothing else to set. If your web admin has an Agent Avatar page (it appears only when it is in your Advanced Admin menu), it lists only avatars of your agent's gender, and a line at the top names the gender and links to the Agent Voice page to change it
  • Changing the gender switches the avatar if the current one is the other gender, to that gender's default. An avatar that already fits stays, and so does one whose gender isn't known
  • No avatar chosen? The agent shows the platform default when it fits the gender, and otherwise that gender's default avatar
